Cuttack:
Around 523 people have been tested positive to dengue in Odisha, officials said in Cuttack on Saturday.
The state Health minister Damodar Rout on Saturday held a high level meeting to take stock of the disease.
He was informed in the meeting that of the 2,321 blood samples tested across the state; at least 523 patients have been tested positive to the viral disease. A majority of them are from Cuttack, the officials said.
While 99 dengue patients are currently undergoing treatment in SCB hospital, 177 patients have been discharged after getting cured, they said.
Even as the minister held the review meeting with senior officials, opposition Congress and BJP workers staged protests outside the District Collectorate where the meeting was taking place leading police to lathicharge them, police said.
Three BJP workers were injured in the lathicharge, they said.
