Virudhunagar:
A 60-year old woman was rescued from a near empty farm well more than 24 hours after she fell into it in a deserted locality in the district, police said on Thursday.
Meenammal of Srivilliputtur escaped with injuries on her legs, they said.
The woman had fallen into the well, which had only knee-deep water, at Viswanathadas Colony on the evening of November 13.
As the well was located in a deserted locality, her cries for help went unanswered till Wednesday evening when some passersby noticed her.
They alerted fire and rescue service personnel who pulled out the woman late on Wednesday evening, police said.
