A video of four college students being brutally tortured and forced into performing unnatural sex in Bihar's Begusarai district, posted and circulated online, has led to the arrest of seven people, the police said on Sunday.
The four students, who stayed in the privately-run Kushwaha hostel, were kidnapped on Wednesday, police said.
The students were allegedly taken behind a prison complex, stripped and forced into unnatural sex acts with each other. The accused also shot at the toes of the boarders, all college students between 18 and 21 years, and made them drink alcohol, said the police. The assault continued the entire day.
The students were subjected to the cruelty allegedly because they had refused to buy water from a factory owned by one of the accused, police said. The accused men made a video and threatened to make the footage viral if the students filed a complaint.
The video ended up online anyway, on Saturday, after which the police made some arrests.
The students were admitted to hospital with multiple wounds. They are said to be stable.
One of the arrested men, Golu Kumar, owns the water treatment plant. Six more were caught on Saturday night.
Raids are being conducted to arrest more of the attackers, the police said.
