Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh: Actor Aamir Khan, who in his film 'Lagaan' had opposed land tax, has been asked to deposit Rs 817 as rent by the local administration for the agricultural land held by him and his family in Hardoi.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Shahabad, Ashok Shukla has directed Aamir and his family members to clear the dues.
A letter in this regard has been given to the caretaker of Aamir Khan's ancestral house yesterday, the SDM said today. He said Aamir Khan and his family members have ancestral land in Akhtiyaarpur village and the 'lagaan' was deposited every year.
Mr Shukla said till September this year, 'lagaan' of Rs.118.20 paise on Aamir Khan, Rs.606.00 on his sister Nikhat and Rs.93.75 paise on other family members including Tahir, Raees, Bilkis Mansoor totalling Rs.817.95 paise was not deposited.
