Mumbai: An abandoned car, parked near the domestic airport in suburban Santacruz triggered panic at the terminal and nearby areas, police said.
The BMW, outside a petrol pump, meters away from the airport was found with a revolver inside it, causing a scare in the vicinity following which searches were conducted which dispelled the fears, they said.
"The petrol pump manager informed the police about the suspicious vehicle. After searches an empty revolver was found inside the car, bearing a Mumbai registration number," Inspector R D Dhawale from Airport Police Station said.
"The vehicle, it appears, was parked outside the petrol pump since the parking lot was completely full. We are taking the help of Road Transport Office to establish the owner of the car," he said adding "so far nobody has come to claim the car."
