The city, it seems, is not safe anymore if the rising incidences of crime against women are anything to go by. After the outrageous incident in NID, where a naked man tried to molest a girl in the institute's hostel, another crime against a woman has been reported.
This time she was at the receiving end of a man's alleged vengeance. In the incident, a man threw acid on a 25-year-old woman and fled from the spot on Thursday afternoon.
The incident happened when Sunita Dantani, the victim, was passing by Bombay Garage in Shahibaug. A complaint has been registered with the Madhavpura police station. According to police inspector HK Rathava, Dantani is married and is a resident of Chhapra in Shahpur area. The woman has been admitted to civil hospital where her condition is said to be stable. Police said that the assailant is known to the victim and will soon be nabbed. Police said the two may have been in a relation in the past.
