Mumbai: Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal, who was summoned by the police last week after he met underworld don Arun Gawli, recorded his statement with the Mumbai Police on Thursday.
Gawli is serving a life sentence at a prison in Navi Mumbai in connection with a murder case. The actor met Gawli at Mumbai's state-run JJ Hospital where prisoners are often brought for treatment.
The actor's statement was recorded at Additional Commissioner of Police (South Region) office. Police sources said Mr Rampal admitted to meeting Gawli.
Arjun Rampal told the police that he had gone to JJ Hospital to scout for a location for an upcoming movie in which he plays Arun Gawli, sources said. He was stopped by the guard, but Gawli came out and they spoke for around five minutes. The actor has not commented on the controversy so far.
