Advocate stabbed to death over drainage of rainwater

Indore: Two persons, including a lawyer, were stabbed to death and another person was wounded when three brothers allegedly attacked them over a trivial issue, police said on Thursday.

The incident took place late on Wednesday night in Marimata area when the brothers, armed with sharp-edged weapons, attacked the trio, who lived in the neighbourhood, over drainage of rainwater, they said.

One of the accused brothers, Rajesh alias Vijendra Tripathi, was arrested in the wee hours on Thursday while the other two are absconding, police said.

The deceased were identified as Virendra Purohit, a senior advocate, and his nephew Piyush Dave.

The injured, identified as Himanshu, was admitted to M Y hospital in serious condition, police said.

Following the incident, lawyers boycotted work in the district court and demanded immediate arrest of the accused.

The court canteen was ransacked by lawyers who forced the owner to stop services, police said.
