Ahmedabad:
The claims of the city police to install CCTV cameras at various cross roads and other major junctions of Ahmedabad to enable a proper vigilance and monitoring system by the police department may soon turn into a reality.
Director General of Police, Gujarat State, SS Khandwawala said that the city will be fortified with CCTV within the next three months.
While addressing a press conference, Khandwawala said that the police have increased its vigilance across the city and the CCTV cameras will help the police to track the criminals. He also said that the police will not tolerate any crime and is trying hard to nab the perpetrators in the city.
Revealing the details of crime in Sector 1, a press release from the CP office said that there is a decrease of 27% in loot cases as compared to the last year from January 2010 to September 2010. Similarly, there is a decrease of 28% in chain snatching incidents, while vehicle thefts have decreased to 27% for the same period.
"The city police have tried hard to control crime and managed to curb it, however our aim is to remain hot on the heels of criminals even in case of a solitary incident," he said.
Khandwawala also said that the city police have managed to get friendly with the public. "The police ensure that there is not a single complaint left unregistered in the police station," he said.
