Rajkot, Gujarat: Over 50 air passengers had a narrow escape, when the wheel of a Mumbai-bound Air India aircraft in which they were travelling, caught fire while taking off, sources at Rajkot airport said.
No casualty was reported, sources said. The flight, Air India AI-656, was about to take off from Rajkot airport on Wednesday evening, when one of its wheels suddenly caught fire, they said, adding that the airport fire brigade managed to douse the flame.
One of the passengers said that Air India has made arrangements for their accommodation and would make optional provisions to fly them from Rajkot to Mumbai.
