Air India plane makes an emergency landing in Delhi
New Delhi: A Guwahati-bound Air India plane with 68 passengers and five crew members had to land under emergency conditions at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here after the pilot detected a technical problem shortly after take-off.

"Air India flight (IC-8611) took off for Guwahati at 3 pm from here but after 30 minutes of the flight, the pilot suddenly got false alarm and saw some indicators blinking due to a technical problem," an airline official said.

"The pilot decided to return and asked for a precautionary landing at the Delhi airport," he said.

The aircraft, a Canadian Regional Jet (CRJ), landed safely at around 3.45 pm and all the passengers and crew members are safe, he added.

Air India shifted the passengers to another plane, which is also a CRJ aircraft. The flight left for its destination at 4.20 pm, an airline spokesperson said.
