Jabalpur: A 17-year-old girl who was attacked at her home earlier this month in Jabalpur has emerged from a coma that lasted more than a week.
This city in Madhya Pradesh held candle-light vigils over the weekend for Akanksha Usrathe.
She was discovered unconscious by her parents when they returned home on March 6. Her brother, 13-year-old Priyanshu, and her grandmother were lying near her. All three had been hit repeatedly on their heads with a clothes iron.
They were rushed to hospital. Akanksha's grandmother and brother died late last week.
The police suspects that the attack may have been carried out by a group of four young boys who attended a coaching centre with Akanksha.
