Ambala:
Cold conditions tightened its grip in parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, with mercury falling by up to six notches below normal.
Amritsar continued to remain the coldest place in the region with a low of 0.6 degrees Celsius, three degrees below normal, the MET office said in chandigarh.
The plains of Ludhiana and Patiala recorded a low of 3.6 C and 3.1 C respectively, with minimum temperature dropping by up to four degrees below normal.
In Haryana, Ambala recorded a low of 1.3 C, with mercury reading six degrees below normal, while Hisar witnessed minimum temperature of 6.4 C.
Chandigarh recorded a minimum temperature of 3.8 C, which was two degrees below normal, followed by Bhiwani at 5 C.
According to forecast, cold wave will continue in the region, while mist and fog will envelop some areas of Punjab and Haryana during the next few days.
