Dhananjay Kamble, a computer animation instructor from Airoli is working on the project since last six months and has completed the production work. "This is the first time that a full length animation movie is being made on the life of Shivaji Maharaj. It will be drawing based 2D animation. Unlike other such movies, I have drawn all the pictures and then converted them into an animated movie," Kamble said. The 2.15 hours long movie based on the novel Shriman Yogi, by Ranjit Desai, will be divided into two parts.
"The total budget for the movie is around Rs 35 lakh. Since it is a major project which involves battery of artists, technicians and a lot of pre and post production work," he said. However, the project has hit a road block due to acute fund shortage. "I am trying to generate funds for the project. Whatever I earned working as animation instructor at various computer institutes and the proceedings from the sale of paintings have been invested in the project. Now I need financial assistance," he said.
Kamble currently runs a computer animation institute at Airoli apart from working as a freelance cartoonist for some Marathi newspapers in Mumbai and Satara. "The work and life of Shivaji Maharaj had a great influence on my life since childhood. So much so that the first drawing of my life was that of Shivaji Maharaj," he said.
The specialty of the film is hand drawn 2D pictures with movement. There are 24 frames of sequential drawings for one second of the movie. "I have decided to approach prominent people to raise funds for the movie. Once completed, it will definitely turnout to be a master piece," Kamble added.
