Midnapore: An associate professor of Midnapore Medical College filed a fresh complaint on Saturday night against two persons accusing them of circulating a cartoon that denigrates the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. This comes days after Jadavpur University professor Ambikesh Mahapatra was jailed on the charge of sending cartoon criticising Trinamool Congress Chief Ms Banerjee and her party colleague Mukul Roy.
Police said Dr Bikram Saha, the Associate Professor of Medicine in the college, filed complaint at Kotwali police station against Mr Proloy Mitra and Mr Chinmay Roy in which he alleged that the duo had forwarded him a cartoon in which Ms Banerjee's head was missing with the comment "our Chief Minister has lost her head".
"These two are behind sending me such a malicious mail which denigrates the Chief Minister. I hereby register complaint against them," the professor said in his complaint.
On April 12, Professor Mahapatra was assaulted allegedly for forwarding anti-Mamata Banerjee cartoons via email to about 65 people. The professor was arrested by the police late on April 19 and produced in an Alipore court. He was released on bail later, but only after a written statement - which the professor said he was forced to write - that he was an active member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
