Pahariya village, Uttar Pradesh:
Days after the death of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Zia ul Haque in Uttar Pradesh's Kunda, another DSP and three villagers were injured in clashes in the Pahariya village of Etah district in western Uttar Pradesh today.
Villagers clashed with policemen as they were carrying out raids to nab a wanted man. Three villagers were shot in the clashes; DSP Shrinivas was injured. All of them have now been shifted to the district hospital.
On March 2, in Kunda in UP, senior police officer Zia ul Haque was killed after he reached the Pratapgarh village where the village headman, Nanhe Yadav, had been shot. An angry mob reportedly cornered him, and eight policemen who were with him allegedly abandoned him. Three bullets were fired - one killed Mr Haque; two others killed Mr Yadav's brother.
Mr Haque's wife has alleged that former UP minister and Kunda MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya is responsible for her husband's death. The allegations led to his resignation as minister from the Akhilesh Yadav government.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is probing the case, has still not questioned Raja Bhaiya.
