Bulandshahr: A girl was severely injured when her brother threw acid on her for being in love with a boy from another religion, police said on Tuesday in Bulandshahr.
The incident occurred early this morning in Charora village where the victim, Gulshan, was found lying unconscious on the bank of Ganga canal on the outskirts of the town, they said.
According to Chief Medical Superintendent Dr S P Ahuja, the victim was brought to the District Hospital by a home guard constable and admitted with 55 per cent burns.
A case has been registered based on the victim's statement and her father Asgar has been arrested, they said, adding her brother is still absconding.
