Adilabad: In Adilabad district of Andhra Pradesh, a couple who put up a three-month-old baby girl for sale for Rs 1 lakh has now landed in police custody.
The police are verifying if Ayeshu, the baby girl, is indeed the biological child of Akram and Maheshwari.
The couple says they were looking for buyers in Mancherial town of Adilabad and hoped to use the money to start a small business and earn their livelihood. The police are investigating the claims of the couple.
"We had a love marriage. He works as labour. Our financial position is not good. That is why we wanted to sell her," said Maheshwari.
