Baby's intestines operated on 'by mistake'

Moradabad: An infant's intestines were operated upon by Devisha Plastic Surgery Centre in Moradabad, but shockingly, it was an error. Two-week-old Farzaan was admitted to be cured of a blood clot near his ear.

The parents say that on Sunday morning, a doctor had sent them to fetch Farzaan's blood report. By the time they returned the operation was complete.

"He developed a blood clot. The doctor asked us to get his blood report. I left to fetch it with my nephew. How would we know we would be defrauded thus?" said Yusuf, Farzaan's father.

It appears to be a case of blatant negligence.

At the time of Farzaan's admission, another month-old baby Shoaib was admitted too with an intestinal blockage. Police say the attending doctor, M Tyagi, confused the two cases.

"The doctor performed a wrong surgery on the child," Rahul Yadavendu, Superintendent Of Police, Moradabad.

"A three-member inquiry committee has been constituted which will submit a report in three days. But the fault is with the doctor. How can a plastic surgeon perform a paediatric surgery?" said R B Saxena, Chief Medical Officer, Moradabad.

The child's condition is grave but despite the intensity of the crime the doctor has been let off after questioning.
