Jamshedpur:
A dawn-to-dusk Jamshedpur bandh called by BJP and supported by many political and social organisations including Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Friday affected life in the steel city.
Majority of the shops, markets and business establishments were closed. There was also very few vehicles on the roads since morning.
The bandh supporters also burnt tyres to block the road traffic at several places including inner circle road in Bistupur.
However, no untoward incident was reported from any part of the city, police sources said.
The bandh was called to protest the killing of the senior medical officer-cum-in-charge of emergency ward of Tata Main Hospital (TMH), Prabhat Kumar, who was also the president of Jharkhand unit of BJP's (Medical Cell).
Kumar was shot dead by three unidentified miscreants at the clinic in his residence here on Thursday evening.
