Bangalore: For those who enjoy partying, this will not come as good news. Many of the parties slated for this week have been cancelled or rescheduled with the government declaring no liquor days in view of the civic polls. The four-day alcohol ban from March 26 to March 28 has many crying foul.
Aarti Rao, a music programmer and part owner of B-Flat, expressed her disappointment at cancelling the BBC Sound System, a band that travelled all the way from France to perform live this weekend.
She said, "We feel really bad about the cancellation, the cops have changed the details based on a whim. We will lose good revenue and a good evening."
Whereas, Navneet Sinha, executive director of Kyra, another pub, said, "We will be losing about Rs 4 lakh in revenue due to the cancellations."
Empathising with cops, he added, " I'm sure they have their reasons. However, with people stocking up on alcohol, the ban will be senseless."
While most pubs and bars like Club Nero, Opus and B-Flat decided to shut shop, places like Fusion Lounge and Fuga decided to reschedule their Friday night events by hosting RJ Sagi and DJ Ivan at their clubs respectively.
DJ Ivan, who was originally invited to play at Fuga on Friday, rocked the house on Thursday night.
"It wasn't difficult getting him here today but because of police commissioner Shankar Bidari we have no choice but to stay closed," said Bheemaih KS, the executive director of Fuga.
Bidari said, "Security and law and order in the city is my primary concern. I'm least bothered about the loss of revenue to pubs."
