Bangalore:
A 35-year-old man in Bangalore was stabbed to death by his friends at his residence around 11:30 pm on Monday.
Sources close to the victim said KK Venkatesh was killed because of his illicit relations with his friend's wife.
However, Venkatesh's family refuted these rumours. Another group of friends said that his piracy business was his downfall. He had a CD center in Gandhi Nagar and was actively involved in the circulation of duplicate CDs to the market for the last three years. Along with friends, he had also opened several illegal card clubs at Vijay Nagar.
However, since the last two months the friends kept arguing and quarreling. His friends Sunil, Uday and auto driver Prakash believed that Venkatesh was cheating them. Frustrated with the fighting and Venkatesh's greed, they decided to stab him.
The attackers reached Venkatesh's home and stabbed him in the chest as soon as he opened the door. His wife Shweta also received injuries to her hand. She immediately called the neighbours and rushed him to Panasia hospital. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
KK Manju, Venkatesh's brother, said, "I had suggested several times for him not to be associated with those people. But, he never listened. I heard of his death around 11.45 pm." Rahul, another close friend also said, "I spoke to him at 8 pm and he sounded normal to me. It is so sad."
Police are investigating the murder.
