Bangalore neurosurgeon dies in road mishap

Bangalore: A 33-year-old doctor was killed after a car ran over him on Hosur road, on Monday. The driver of the car is absconding.

The deceased, identified as R Ganesh Prasad, a resident of Koramangala, was a junior consulting neurosurgeon in Narayana Hrudayalaya.

Prasad was on his way to the hospital in his two-wheeler at around 7 am to attend an emergency, when a private vehicle, which was allegedly coming at a high speed, hit him from behind and ran over him.

Witnesses at the accident spot blamed the car driver for the rash driving. He did not stop the vehicle after the incident.

They however, failed to note the registration number properly and were hazy about the description of the vehicle. "The driver escaped along with the car after hitting the doctor. We are in the process of searching for the vehicle," police said.

"He is one among the young and brilliant neurosurgeons in the state. He used to conduct at least one surgery every day in the hospital," Dr Thimmappa Hegde of Narayana Hrudayalaya, under whom Prasad was working, said.

Police said Prasad sustained head injuries and died.

In another incident, a 25-year-old man died after he was hit by a lorry on Monday morning in Uttarahalli main road. Police identified the deceased as Raghu Swamy, a resident of Jayanagar 4th Block. He was working for a club in Jayanagar.

The incident occurred when Swamy, along with his colleague, Shivananda was going to Maddur in a two-wheeler, when a speeding lorry hit them from behind. In the impact, the lorry ran over Swamy, killing him instantly. Shivananda sustained minor injuries.

The body was handed over to his family after the post-mortem in Rajarajeshwari hospital.

A case has been registered in Byatarayanapura police station and investigation is on.
