Bangalore techie accuses boss of cheating
Bangalore: A 34-year-old techie in Bangalore has filed a complaint against his team leader for cheating him of Rs 6 lakh and threatening to commit suicide if he asked for his money back.

Calmon Kuriyan, a senior manager of banking and services in a leading software firm, joined the company in 2006 and was working under Suresh P Menon who was the then project manager.

Three years ago, Menon allegedly approached Kuriyan for urgent financial assistance for his US trip. He wanted money, which he promised to return within a month.

"Since he was my boss, I agreed to help him and gave him my debit card pin number," Kuriyan said.

Menon allegedly withdrew Rs 6.7 lakh on different dates. After he returned to the country, Kuriyan contacted him, asking him to return the amount.

Menon told Kuriyan there will be a delay in the payment and agreed to pay the interest amount until he could return the principal amount. After paying the interest amount for a few months, Kuriyan said his boss began making excuses.

He allegedly threatened to commit suicide and mention Kuriyan's name as a reason behind the suicide.

Kuriyan brought this to the notice of the management, following which Menon gave him a cheque of Rs 7.1 lakh (including the interest amount), which bounced.

A legal notice was issued in July, after which Menon allegedly threatened to kill Kuriyan and his family members, saying he had connections with rowdy elements.

Kuriyan brought this to the notice of the management once again, who upon inquiry revealed
that Menon had taken loans from many of his juniors, amounting to several lakhs.

"They had not complained against him since he was their boss," added Kuriyan. He also added that Menon was planning to fly abroad to avoid payments.

Denying all accusations, Menon said, "There is no such complaint filed against me and I will take legal action if this has been published."

When contacted, officials from Pulakeshi Nagar police station remained unavailable for comment.
