Bangalore:
When it comes to security post 26/11 attacks, the IT hub of India's IT City seems to believe in self-help. The Electronic City in Bangalore, which houses many high profile companies including Infosys and Wipro, will now have armed forces patrolling its crucial points round the clock.
From now on, guarding the 158 companies spread over 500 acres in the IT-hub, would be handpicked security personnel of the CISF.
R K Mishra, I-G of CISF, says,"68 members are there, its divided into 3 QRT, in one QRT 4-5 people are there. They will work in 3 shifts and at any point of time there will be 20-22 people on duty."
Twenty one major industries of E-city would be footing the bill that works out close to Rs 25 lakh a month, a price that companies do not seem to mind paying for freedom from fear.
Prakash Rao, Chief Executive Officer of Electronic City Industries' Association says, "We had specific threats considering what happened in Mumbai we thought we should have some security here, after all we have our industries here and a lot of people come to work here. We have to make their lives secure."
