Bareilly:
In a case of dishonour killing, a teenage girl was strangulated and hanged allegedly by her family members after she eloped with a married neighbour in Dohariya Panchdaura village.
The girl, who had fled from her home on Monday, was found living in the native village of her lover Hashmat by family members yesterday, police said today.
The family members tried to convince her to return but she refused. They then allegedly strangulated her and hanged the body with the help of a 'dupatta', they said.
Her uncles told police that she had committed suicide but on sustained questioning confessed to the crime.
The post mortem examination has confirmed strangulation, police said, adding the girl's father, two brothers and two uncles have been arrested.
