New Delhi: 48 hours after they were hailed across the country as heroines for fighting alleged molesters on a bus in Haryana, another video of a pair of sisters shows them beating up a young man who allegedly harassed them in a public park."
Arti and Pooja Kumar, aged 22 and 19, have been showered with praise since a video went viral on Sunday showing them thrashing three men on a bus in their hometown of Rohtak. The sisters, using their belts and their hands, fought the men in the aisle while other passengers looked on, a point that has triggered national outrage.
The three men seen in that video - allegedly shot on a cellphone on Friday by a pregnant woman who was a passenger on the bus - have been arrested by the police. The pregnant woman has been inaccessible to the media.
The footage of the sisters punishing the man who taunted them in a park is over a month old, said the sisters to NDTV. They claim a passer-by shot it, and say they're not sure how the video is being circulated now. As questions appeared online about how the girls happen to be caught on camera in multiple cases as avengers, they responded defensively. "More videos will emerge. I am 19 have been harassed by 2000 boys in my life....wherever i got the chance, I beat them up," said Pooja.
Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar has announced a cash reward of Rs 31,000 each for the women. The sisters will also be honoured with an award by the government on Republic Day.
