Bengal Doctor Beaten up, Hospital Ransacked by Angry Relatives
Barrackpore: A doctor of a government hospital was yesterday allegedly beaten up and the hospital ransacked by the relatives of a teenager who succumbed to his injuries after falling off from a suburban train, the police said.

Souvik Ghosh (17) a resident of Titagarh and a student of class XI sustained fatal injuries when his head rammed into an electric post along the railway tracks while he was leaning out of a running suburban train and fell off, a senior officer of the Barrackpore Police Commissionarate said.

The victim was declared 'brought dead' by the doctors at the emergency ward of B N Bose Hospital, but angry relatives of the teenager and other local residents alleged medical negligence.

The agitated crowd then assaulted Dr Shantanu Guha inside the hospital and also ransacked the emergency ward, the officer said adding a large police contingent including RAF personnel were rushed to the spot to control the unruly crowd.

Investigations are on and no one has been arrested yet, the officer added.
