You can expect to hop into an air-conditioned Volvo bus for your daily commute in Diwali.
The first two buses out of the batch of 50 Volvos are expected to join the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking's (BEST) bus fleet in the first week of November.
The buses will run on the present routes for air-conditioned, long-distance buses and charge the same fare.
BEST committee chairman Sanjay Potnis said on Monday, "The Undertaking wants the buses by November 3." However, he reckons, the delivery could be prolonged due to some formalities.
Potnis said, "About 150 drivers will be sent for training at the Volvo's training facility in Bangalore over the next six months." He added that even the BEST technicians will receive training by the Volvo technicians.
