Bhopal:
Panic gripped a government hospital in Bhopal on Sunday when fire broke out at its new-born care unit where 17 babies were undergoing treatment.
The condition of the infants was stated to be fine, officials said.
There was a small fire at Sick New-born Care Unit (SNCU) caused due to an electric short circuit at around 4 pm. It sparked off from the electricity switchboard, but was put out quickly, they said.
Three infants who need round-the-clock attention have been shifted to a near-by room as the electricity supply to the newly-built unit went off.
There was no electricity at the SNCU for more than 4 hours. Efforts were on to restore the supply, Duty Officer Dr Sunil Arya said.
