Biker gang busted by Delhi Police

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Monday claimed to have busted a biker gang involved in 30 cases of murder, robbery and vehicle thefts with the arrest of eight youths.

The youths used to spend the money they earned allegedly through crime in expensive hotels and cricket betting in Mumbai, Goa and Jaipur, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Shibhesh Singh said.

With their arrest, 21 cases of robbery and dacoity, two cases of murder, one robbery-cum-murder and six vehicle thefts were solved.

A pistol and revolver, both English-make, seven mobile phones, four stolen motorcycles, robbed cash to the tune of Rs 40,000 and stolen aluminium wires worth Rs 20 lakh were seized from them.

The arrested have been identified as Sunny, the gang leader, Rajesh, Ajay, Rahees, Sunny, Sachin, Bhagirath, Rinku and Ravi Kumar.

"The gang members disclosed that they stole bikes from various parts of the Delhi and changed the number plates.

Bhagirath, Ravi and Rinku gathered information regarding the movement of their targets from their various sources," Singh said.

The gang then waylaid the businessman or entered forcibly in buildings brandishing weapons.

"The gang committed eight armed robberies in August 2010.

They killed three persons and injured nine while committing these crimes. After committing 2-3 robberies they used to abandon the bikes. They did not share their hideouts even with their own accomplices," Singh said.
