Raipur:
The driver of a private vehicle owned by a legislator of Chhattisgarh's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party escaped with the vehicle and a rifle of his security guard in Dantewada district, police said on Tuesday.
Officials at the police headquarters in Raipur said that Avinash Bhadoria Sunday escaped with a car of Bhima Mandawi, legislator from the Maoist-affected Dantewada constituency.
The driver, who was appointed recently, managed to drive away with an AK-47 rifle which was kept in the vehicle.
"There is no police report lodged yet about the matter but there is verbal communication on the issue by the legislator and we are looking into the matter," a police official said informed.
The legislator informed the police on Tuesday.
