Indore:
The Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Saturday held protests at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore demanding a probe into the incident in which three students were expelled for allegedly consuming drugs at the hostel.
The students' union has also demanded the resignation of the institute director N Ravichandran, holding the administration responsible for the incident.
Scores of ABVP activists, led by the organisation's Indore general secretary Rohin Roy, carried banners and raised slogans against the IIM administration holding it responsible for the "mismanagement", its spokesman Nimesh Pathak told reporters.
"During the present director's tenure, there have been gross irregularities and a number of enquiries had been set up to probe into them," Pathak said.
He questioned how narcotics could sneak into the institute campus. "There should be a fair probe whether there is any drug peddler working inside the campus or any IIM staffer is indulged in the drug trafficking," Pathak said quoting the memorandum.
ABVP also submitted a memorandum to this effect to Mhow's Tehsildar Charajeet Hunda at the protest site, Kishanganj Thana Incharge Raghuprasad said.
The protest was held in a peaceful manner, he said.
The incident had taken place on November 21, when the second year MBA students were caught consuming narcotic substance by the staff, the premier business institute's spokesman Parvez Akhtar said.
