Thane: A teenaged boy was arrested for allegedly killing his father, who was planning to marry for the fifth time, police said on Friday.
The 15-year-old boy axed his 62-year-old father, Moreshwar S Gharat, at his residence in Lendarpada of Harnwadi in Palghar town of Thane district on February 5, assistant police inspector A J Sindkar said.
The boy was against his father, who had already married four times and was planning to tie the knot for the fifth time soon.
The boy was also angry with his father for selling a part of the family's property in Palghar and giving away the money to some other people, instead of him.
On Tuesday, the boy, who had been living with his uncle in Vitthalwadi, went to his father's house and axed him to death, Sindkar said.
However, he later cooked up a story about his father's death but police cracked the case and arrested him.
The boy has been sent to a remand home while a case was registered against him, police said.
The boy's mother was the second wife of Gharat and had passed away within a month of giving him birth.
Gharat's other three wives separated from him for various reasons, they added.
