Boy found dead on rail tracks after fight with classmate

New Delhi: A 15-year-old student was found dead on the railway tracks in Delhi, a day after he went missing following a fight allegedly with his classmate over Rs 100, police said on Monday.

The body of Pankaj Kumar Nautiyal, a student of class X at a government school in south Delhi's Defence Colony, was found on the railway tracks near Nizamuddin Railway station yesterday, a senior police official said.

He had been missing from his Sewa Nagar residence since Saturday.

Police suspect that it could be a case of suicide. "The body has been battered and was found in a condition similar to that of someone who jumped before a train. We are not ruling out anything. We are investigating the matter," a senior police official said.

Pankaj had on Saturday left his home at around 7 am and around 10 am, his elder sister Anju had received a call from school authorities who claimed that he was involved in a brawl with a classmate over Rs 100.

His family claimed that they had given the money to him for paying the school fee.

"Pankaj's brother Sunil (19) went to the school where he was told that he had scaled the school wall and fled after being counselled by his class teacher and principal over the brawl," Chanda Devi (45), the deceased's mother, claimed.

The school authorities allegedly told Sunil that Pankaj had a fight with his classmate over Rs 100. Teachers told Sunil that Pankaj was alleging that his classmate had stolen Rs 100 from his notebook.

As the family could not trace Pankaj till Saturday evening, they approached Kotla Mubarakpur police station who asked them to go to Defence Colony Police Station where a complaint was filed with a photograph of Pankaj.

Yesterday morning, police informed the family that his body was found on the railway tracks near Nizamuddin Railway Station.
