Pune: A 15-year-old boy was beheaded allegedly by his classmates who hanged the body on a tree on the bank of river Mutha in the city, police said on Sunday.
The incident came to light yesterday when some boys who had gone to play cricket saw the body of Abhishek Ghorpade, hanging by a rope.
He reportedly had a quarrel with the suspects in school a few days back and the tiff apparently led to the crime, police said.
Abhishek, according to his parents, had left home on May 5 evening saying he was going out to buy a cake for a birthday party of one of his friends and would be back late.
Three of his friends who are believed to have nursed enmity with him, allegedly took Abhishek and chopped off his head with a sickle, threw it in the river and left the scene after hanging the body.
After waiting for two days, the parents lodged a complaint with police who have detained three minor boys in connection with the murder, police said.
