A BSP MLA, who is an accused in a case of murder and kidnapping continues to reside in his official residence almost ten days after the police claimed to have deputed "half a dozen teams" to nab him.
BSP MLA Chandra Bhadra Singh alias Sonu Singh, allegedly involved in the kidnapping and murder of Revenue Inspector Ram Kumar Yadav over a Panchayat election dispute, is yet to be approached by the police even for an enquiry.
Police, which had claimed to have deputed "half a dozen" teams to locate the ruling party MLA, is in fact busy collecting evidence against him before arresting him.
Police maintains that four of the accused named in the FIR have been arrested and the vehicle used in the kidnapping has been traced.
According to the police, Yadav's wife Kamla Yadav was contesting for the post of village pradhan against the candidate being promoted by Sonu Singh in Isauli constituency of Sultanpur.
Sonu Singh and his brother Yashbhadra Singh alias Monu Singh threatened Yadav to keep his wife out from the fray but the Revenue Inspector declined, police said.
Yadav was kidnapped on October 25 and Kamla lodged a complaint alleging Sonu Singh was responsible for it. The next day, Yadav's body was found in Kurebhar area of Sultanpur district.
Bikapur Kotwali police station booked a case of kidnapping and murder against the BSP MLA and others.
Sonu Singh was earlier booked under Gangster Act and National Security Act, police said.
According to Faizabad Senior Superintendent of Police RKS Rathore, investigation in the case is on and "police will definitely take action against the culprit."
