Ballia:
A superintendent engineer of the Uttar Pradesh irrigation department was manhandled and his
house ransacked allegedly by the brother of a ruling BSP MLA and his aides on the issue of a tender, official sources said in Ballia on Wednesday.
"Anand Mohan, who is posted as SE in dredging division, has submitted a written complaint to the district magistrate and SP, alleging that Anand Bihari, brother of BSP MLA from Dwaba Subhash Yadav, along with his aides, misbehaved and assaulted him and ransacked his house last evening," they said.
The engineer alleged a ruckus was created over some tender work.
When contacted, Superintendent of Police V K Shekhar said the complaint of the engineer had been received.
"It's serious matter and a DySP had been asked to investigate. Action would be taken once the inquiry report is received," he said.
Meanwhile, while terming the allegations leveled by Anand Mohan as baseless, the MLA, who was in Basti when contacted, charged the engineer's intention was malafide and he was trying to derive benefit out of it.
UP Abhiyanata Sangh, an association of engineers, has threatened to launch a state-wide stir if action was not taken against the MLA's brother.
