Chennai: As a part of its accreditation interface programme, IT service provider Tata Consultancy Services on Monday conferred best student award to a B.Tech student of a private engineering college for proficiency in academics.

R Lalitha, an IT student from Easwari Engineering College (a unit of SRM group), received the award at a function here for proficiency in academics and all round performance in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

The award carries a gold medal and a cash prize of Rs 10,000.

TCS, Head Accreditation Process Dr A K Pattabiraman said out of more than 400 colleges in the city, his company has accreditated only about 40 colleges.
