Kusminda, Chattisgarh:
A student of class 11 of DAV school in Kusminda, Chattisgarh committed suicide after he was traumatised by his teacher.
Ashwini Yadav, who also played for the district football team hanged himself after the school principal told him and another fellow student not to come to school anymore.
The reason cited was low attendance. But Ashwini's friend claims both of them could not attend school as they were representing the school at a sports meet. He also alleges ill-treatment by the school authorities.
"They were not allowing us to sit in the class. We had gone for a sports meet, therefore could not attend school. They would throw us out by our collar. We had participated for the school itself. They would scold and beat us for small reasons," said Md Rafiq, Ashwini's friend.
As news of Ashwini's death came in, angry students demanded action against the principal and burnt her effigy. They marched to the police station demanding that the guilty be arrested - something the victim's family is asking for.
"My child committed suicide due to the teacher and the principal. He had been sent for the sports meet by the school itself and the school was supposed to mark them present but that did not happen. They were marked in red, they were thrown out by the collar. The principal and the teacher should be given strictest of punishment," said Ashwini's father.
The police have lodged a case of abetment to suicide against the principal and the teacher, both of whom are on the run.
