Delhi:
Lawyers by the day and car thieves by the night. This is how two budding advocates led their life until the law caught up with them.
Jitender and Praneet Arora were apprehended from Vasant Vihar last Friday when they reached there to sell off a stolen car, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) H G S Dhaliwal said.
The youths told the police that they became friends while studying in the Law Faculty of Vivekananda College of Indraprastha University and were lured towards theft to make easy money and live in luxury.
"Most of the students of the Law Faculty used to come in cars. They were also keen to have a car. After that they started committing theft of cars for various economic needs. Within three months, they collectively committed various car thefts and disposed of the same through a receiver in Bulandshahar," Dhaliwal said.
In one case, the duo allegedly stole a Honda City car of a neighbour while in another episode, they allegedly stole a close friend's car by stealing car key from his house.
"Both the accused were undergoing their practical training of advocacy under renowned lawyers and have been arrested for the first time," Dhaliwal said not wishing to reveal the names of the firm the youths work for.
