Bundi:
Two persons, including a minor girl, were killed and five others of a family injured when a portion of their thatched house collapsed today due to heavy rain in Mahaveer Colony slum area in Bundi, Rajasthan.
The incident occurred early morning when one of the walls of the room where Bindu Khan's seven children were sleeping collapsed, said sub divisional magistrate (SDM) Jitendra Naruka.
21-year-old Sharukh and his 10-year-old sister Muskan were killed on the spot while their five siblings were injured, he said adding, Khan, a daily wage labourer, and his wife had a miraculous escape. The injured were rushed to a government hospital where they are undergoing treatment.
Local MLA Ashok Dogra and Bundi's municipal council Mayor Sadakat Ali also rushed to the hospital.
A compensation of Rs 50,000 each for the deceased from the Chief Minister Relief Fund has been recommended. The proposal for the compensation for the deceased and injured was being prepared, Mr Naruka said.
Mr Dogra said the compensation for the injured would be decided after receiving the injury reports.
Heavy rainfall has lashed in several parts of the district since last night throwing normal life out of gear.
