Chaar Dhaam pilgrimage begins

Dehradun: The annual pilgrimage to the four Himalayan shrines of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri, popularly known as the 'Char Dham Yatra', began on Friday.  A batch of 29 pilgrims left in a bus from Rishikesh for the holy yatra, Vice-President of Char Dham VikasParishad, Suratram Nautiyal said.

The Yamunotri dham was opened at 12:35 PM; while the Gangotri dham was thrown open to public at 12:55 PM. Disaster Management Minister Khajan Das and BJP's
state unit chief Bishan Singh Chufal were among the pilgrims
present at the auspicious occasion, he said
