Chandrapur in Vidarbha boils at 47 degree celsius

Nagpur: Intense heat waves continued to sweep Maharashtra's Vidarbha region, with neighbouring Chandrapur district recording the maximum temperature of 47 degree Celsius on Monday.

The Brahmapuri taluka in the district came a close second with the mercury touching 46 degree Celsius, Met officials said.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, Nagpur recorded a scorching 45.1 degree Celsius on Monday.

Temperatures in other parts in Vidarbha also offered no respite from heat. Amravati recorded a maximu of 44 degree Celsius, while Akola saw mercury touch 44.4 degree Celsius. Gondia recorded the highest temperature at 44.3 degree Celsius, while Wardha sizzled at 45.9 degree Celsius. Washim and Yavatmal recorded maximum temperatures of 42.2 degree Celsius and 43 degree Celsius respectively.
