Chennai:
The save the tiger campaign is certainly becoming a movement among the younger generation.
In Chennai, 250 school students took to the streets on their bicycles for the cause.
"It's our national animal...it is important to save our heritage," said one of the students in the group.
The children were not just concerned but also well informed and had certain suggestion to pass on so that everyone could contribute to the cause of saving our national animal.
"Let's use jute bags instead of those tiger skin bags which are merely meant for show off," said another student.
While saving the tiger was the main focus, the children also wanted to promote cycling though this campaign. So with all the pomp and show they went to the mayor to ask for separated cycling lanes in Chennai so that they can ride to their schools on their green machines.
"Let's save energy, save forests let's do something for the nature," said another student while referring to the increasing pollution levels and deforestation resulting in global warming.
It was nothing less than a delight to see school students come forward and taking the onus upon them to save the environment. A thought that seldom crosses the minds of their ever busy elders.
