CISF man shoots himself at Vigyan Bhavan

New Delhi: A CISF constable allegedly shot himself dead at the high-security Vigyan Bhavan here on Thursday, three days after he joined duty after going on for a leave for 21 days.

The incident took place at around 2:30 pm and the victim has been identified as K P Muthu, hailing from Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu, a senior police official said.

He was posted in the security wing of government buildings in Delhi and performing duties at Vigyan Bhavan.

No suicide note has been recovered.

According to CISF spokesperson Rohit Katiyar, Muthu was on leave for 21 days and had joined duty on Monday. "He had gone to his hometown for his engagement. We are not sure whether the engagement happened or not. We are not sure why he took the extreme step," Katiyar said.
