City shivers at 1.2 C
Amritsar: Amritsar recorded the season's lowest temperature at minus 1.2 degree Celsius on Saturday making it the coldest place in the region even as minimum temperature rose by up to three notches at several places of Punjab and Haryana.

Thick fog and mist continued to engulf various parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, causing poor visibility.

Chandigarh shivered at 4.2 C, two degrees below normal. In Haryana, the minimum temperature rose marginally, with Ambala, Rohtak and Karnal recording a low of 7.3 C, 6.5 C and 8.2 C respectively.

Hisar, Narnaul and Bhiwani witnessed a low of 8.3 C, 4.5 C and 7.0 C respectively, increasing by up to three notches against normal.

Ludhiana and Patiala, in Punjab, recorded a minimum temperature of 8.6 C and 8.4 C respectively.

Rains and thundershowers are likely to occur in different parts of Punjab and Haryana within next twenty-four hours, the Met office said in its forecast.
