When his classmates teased him over the clothes he was wearing to school, a Class 11 student at a Kanpur school got very upset. So upset that the next day, he brought his uncle's revolver to his school, and shot his classmate, Vivek Yadav, in the back.
Still in hospital, Vivek has been declared out of danger.
"It was sports-wear day at school and I wore the wrong lowers to school. So they teased me in front of the girls. They said unkind words to me. They used very bad language," says the student who shot Vikas. He also claims that his classmates hit him repeatedly after they began teasing him.
On Tuesday morning, the boy called the students who had teased him to the school toilet. The police say he wanted to scare them, but when he came face-to-face with his group of classmates, he panicked and shot Vivek accidentally.
The police say that the student was angry that he had been teased by his classmates in front of girls in his class. His uncle was not aware that his gun had been taken from his house.
The student who shot Vikas has been arrested.
