Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh:
A Class 12 student in Uttar Pradesh's Mainpuri town was killed over a love affair with his school teacher, police said on Friday, adding the teacher's mother has been taken into custody for her alleged involvement in the killing.
The body of Veekesh,18, student of SLR Public school, was recovered Thursday from Hemchandra Park in Mainpuri town, some 200 km from Lucknow.
Police believe the student was repeatedly hit on head with bricks, causing his death. He went missing on January 5.
"Veekesh used to meet Meenaskhi Sharma, who is in her mid 20s, at her home. However, her mother Madhu opposed their relationship and had even threatened Veekesh of dire consequences to stop him from meeting her daughter," police inspector Shri Krishna told reporters Friday in Mainpuri.
While police have booked Madhu for Veekesh's murder, his brother alleged that Madhu took help from her acquaintances to eliminate Veekesh.
Police are interrogating Meenakshi to gather more information.
"Some other people could also be involved in the crime," said Krishna.
Veekesh was a resident of Ramahar Colony in Mainpuri.
