Nagpur:
A Class 7 girl who was allegedly sexually assaulted and then set on fire at an under-construction building in Nagpur has died at a hospital in the city.
The minor was set ablaze at the building in the busy Manish Nagar area of Nagpur on Friday. Locals rushed to her rescue when they heard her screaming and saw smoke billowing from the building. But by the time they reached there, she had suffered 95 per cent burn injuries.
The police found a knife, a cake box, a few burnt clothes and liquor bottles from the crime scene.
The girl, daughter of a labourer couple from Madhya Pradesh, had gone missing from her home on Thursday. Her parents had lodged a police compliant.
Locals say construction work at the site of the crime was stalled two years ago and it had since been inhabited by anti-social elements.
The police are yet to identify and trace the perpetrators of the crime.
